In 2016 Mark Trahanovsky, one of the key figures in establishing organized Towerrunning had this great idea.
The development since then is an example of creating awareness for good things in social media.
Many different organizations have taken up this idea.To mention just one example the American Lung Association, which is behind many stair races in the US, has created a video for this day.
To take the stairs when it is suitable has positive value for personal your health and on global level is saving energy by reducing elevator rides.
By the way – surprisingly the positive effect of using the stairs instead of the elevator applies every day !
